About Open World Games
Open-world games hand you a map instead of a corridor. There is no fixed next level: you choose where to go, in what order, and how long to stay, and the world keeps running around you whether you are chasing a goal or just looking around.
The appeal is the space between objectives. A shortcut you find by accident, a road you have not driven yet, a detour that turns into the best part of the session. Goals are there to point you somewhere, but the route is yours, and two players rarely take the same one.
In the browser they load straight into the world with nothing to install. Keyboard and mouse give the finest control on a desktop, on-screen pads cover phones and tablets, and progress is kept on your device so you can drop in for a few minutes and pick up where you stopped.
