About Ammo Pour

Ammo Pour is a free zombie defense game you can play in your browser with no download. At the top of the screen a sharpshooter in a wide hat stands on a crate behind a sandbag wall, and zombies shuffle in from the right to tear it down. Below him hangs a wooden board full of coloured gates and a steel cup full of bullets. You never aim the rifle. You pour the ammo: steer the cup across the board, hold to tip it, and every bullet that falls through a gate comes out multiplied. The pile rolls into a green pipe, climbs up to the shooter, and he fires at whichever zombie is closest to the wall.

Drag across the screen or move the mouse to steer the cup, and hold a click, a finger, Space or the down arrow to pour. The left and right arrows or A and D steer too. Green gates double every ball that passes, blue ones triple, purple ones make four and orange ones five, so the trick is to pour over the biggest gates and let the falling balls hit a second gate on the way down. Red gates with stripes halve whatever passes through them. The cup is full at the start of every wave and empties as you pour, and each level gives you only a little more ammo than the best line of gates can turn into bullets. When the cup runs dry the zombies still standing rush the wall and hit it three times as hard, so pouring over the wrong gates usually loses the level.

There are 60 levels in four worlds, Cornfield, Main Street, Harbor and The Lab, and every few levels something new turns up. Steel pegs scatter the falling ammo, runners sprint, brutes soak up a long stream of bullets and some gates slide from side to side. Diggers vanish underground and pop up on top of a gate, blocking it until you pour enough balls on them, and spitters glue goo over your gates in the same way. Locked grey gates show a number: feed them that many balls and they open into a big multiplier. Crows flap across the board and eat falling ammo until enough balls hit them, fans blow the stream sideways, spinners swat it, gold ×10 gates crack after a few hits, and jelly zombies split into small ones when they fall. The last level of each world is a boss, from the Big Scarecrow to the Lab Giant, and every boss calls in a pack of runners once it is down to half its health.

Between waves you pick one of three cards. Gate Up adds one to your weakest gate, New Gate drops a ×2 gate into an empty spot, Wide Gates makes every gate wider, Full Cup gives you half as many balls again for the next wave, and Hot Rounds, Quick Hands, Patch Wall and Clean Up help the shooter or clear red gates and goo. Your first three minutes are a learning stretch: the wall takes far less damage, and once per wave a second wind refills the cup and pushes the zombies back when the wall is about to fall.

A cleared level gives up to three stars for how much of the wall is still standing, and pays coins, more the first time. Coins also drop on the board when your ammo rolls through them. Spend them in the Armory on four upgrades, Bigger Cup, Sharper Shots, Faster Trigger and Thicker Wall, and on two more shooters: Pike, whose shots pierce into the zombie behind, and Bloom, whose shots burst on the zombies close by. If the wall falls you can watch a short video once per level to revive with the wall patched and a fresh cup, and after a win you can double the coins the same way. The Levels map lets you replay any level you have opened, a daily reward adds coins when you come back, your levels, stars, coins and shooters are saved in your browser, and every new level you clear, or replay with more stars, counts on the weekly board.

Ammo Pour tips & strategy

  1. Stack two gates

A ball that falls through a ×3 gate and then a ×2 gate below it turns into six. Look for a big gate sitting above another one and park the cup over that line.

  2. Pour in bursts

You do not need to hold the whole time. Short pours over the best gate waste less ammo than one long stream that drifts over a red gate.

  3. Clear blocks early

A digger or a goo blob on your best gate turns it into a wall. Pour onto it right away; it only takes a few balls, and the gate works again.

  4. Open locks when the board is quiet

Feeding a locked gate costs balls now and pays them back for the rest of the level. Do it at the start of a wave, before the zombies reach the wall.

  5. Upgrade the cup first

Bigger Cup puts more balls in every wave, and every extra ball is multiplied by the gates. It is usually the cheapest way to get through a level that keeps beating you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I play Ammo Pour?

Drag or move the mouse to steer the ammo cup over the board and hold to pour. Bullets that fall through a gate are multiplied, roll up the pipe to your shooter, and he fires at the zombie closest to the sandbag wall. Clear every wave before the wall falls.

What do the gates do?

Green gates double every ball that passes, blue triple it, purple make four and orange five. Gold ×10 gates crack after a few hits. Red striped ÷2 gates halve your ammo, so pour around them.

What are the locked grey gates?

A locked gate shows a number. Pour that many balls into it and it opens into a big multiplier, written above it, for the rest of the level.

Why did the zombies suddenly run at the wall?

Your cup ran out of ammo while zombies were still standing, so they rushed the wall, and a rushing zombie hits three times as hard. Each level gives only a little more ammo than the best line of gates needs, so pour over the biggest gates and make every ball count.

What do diggers, spitters and crows do?

Diggers pop up on top of a gate and spitters cover a gate with goo. Both block it until you pour enough balls onto them. Crows fly across the board and eat falling ammo until enough balls hit them.

What can I buy with coins?

Upgrades in the Armory: Bigger Cup, Sharper Shots, Faster Trigger and Thicker Wall, plus two more shooters, Pike with piercing shots and Bloom with bursting shots. Coins come from cleared levels, coins on the board and the daily reward.

Is Ammo Pour like Cup Heroes?

It belongs to the same family of pour-and-multiply defense games, but it is our own game with its own board, gates, zombies, worlds and shooters, and it is not connected to Cup Heroes.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Your levels, stars, coins, upgrades and shooters are saved in your browser on this device.
