Tiltway

Frequently asked questions

Is Tiltway free to play?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with no download and no account. The only optional video is the one-time revive on the run-over card; the run, the leaderboard, the skin shop and online races are all reachable without watching anything.

What is the difference from Slope or other ball runners?

You do not steer the ball; you tilt the whole ramp. That changes what a lean does: the ball rolls to the low side, but so do the loose rocks — and they respond faster than you, so a lean can sweep a rock off the edge before it reaches you, or sweep it into your path if you lean the wrong way. The ramp is both your controller and the thing trying to throw you off.

How do the controls work?

Two verbs. Tilt: hold A/D or the left and right arrows on desktop; on touch, swipe left or right and keep your finger down — the ramp stays leaning like a held key, swipe the other way to switch, lift to level out. Hop: Space, W or the up arrow on desktop, a swipe up or a tap on touch. Prefer buttons? Switch Touch to Pads in settings for TILT and HOP pads. A hop clears a bar or a short gap; longer gaps need a hop from the last plank. In the air the tilt barely works, so pick your lane before you jump. P pauses.

What ends a run?

Falling — off the edge, into a gap, or through a plank that collapsed under you. There are no lives and no checkpoints in the endless run. Once per run you can revive from the run-over card by watching a short video: you return to the last checkpoint plank behind you with the run's coins spent, and if you fall again the run is over for good. Bumping pegs, bars and rocks only slows you.

What do the rocks do?

They are loose. A rock sits still until the ramp tilts, then it rolls downhill about a quarter faster than the ball. Bumping one slows you; the smart play is to lean so the rock slides off the edge before you reach it, then straighten up. Rockslides drop several behind you at once, so lean early and let them pass on the low side.

How does the leaderboard work?

By distance. When a run ends, its metres go to the weekly board, and only your best counts. The board resets every week, so a good week is a fresh chance rather than a wall of old scores. Your all-time best stays on the menu and drives the bar at the top of the screen.

What are coins for?

Ball skins. Every run banks the coins you picked up, and the shop on the menu sells three skins for coins — no level or star gate, just play. Reviving spends the current run's coins, so a revive is a trade: more metres for the board against the coins you would have banked.

How does the online race work?

Press Race online and you join a four-seat table. Everyone gets the same finite ramp from the same seed, with a random mix of the special sections, the countdown is shared, and the first ball to the bottom wins. Other balls appear as tinted ghosts with their seat names so nobody can knock you off, and a fall in a race only sends you back to the last checkpoint. Seats that are still empty when the countdown ends are filled so the race always runs, and there are no room codes or logins.
