Tight Spot

Frequently asked questions

How do you park in Tight Spot?

Line the car up with the marked bay, then drive or reverse into it. You are parked when all four corners are inside the bay, the car is straight within about eight degrees, and it has come to a complete stop. Reversing in nose-out counts exactly the same as driving in.

What is a shunt?

A shunt is a change of direction — every time you swap between forward and reverse. Each lot shows your shunt count against its par, and par is the fewest shunts that lot can actually be solved in, plus one. You can go over par and still finish the lot; you just lose a star.

What happens if I hit a car?

The car stops and you pick up a scratch. The lot does not restart. Two scratches cost you a star, so contact has a price without throwing away your progress.

Is there a real parallel park?

Yes — the third lot. The gap between the two parked cars is 5.8 metres and the car is 4.4 metres, so you cannot nose in at an angle. You have to pull alongside and reverse in, the same as you would on a street.

Can I play Tight Spot on a phone?

Yes. The lot scales to the screen and the four pads sit under the play area — two to steer, two for drive and reverse. It works in portrait and landscape and needs one hand.
