Yes. Bluewater is free to play in your browser with no download, no install and no account. It runs on desktop and on phones, and your boat, cash and gear are saved locally so you can close the tab and pick the next trip up where you left it.
How do you land a fish?
Hold the REEL button (or the space bar) to gain line and release it to give line back. Keep the tension bar out of the red - if it reaches the top the line parts. When the fish tires it comes to the boat and the prompt changes to GAFF, which you tap on the beat. Each species needs a different pattern: let a runner run, hold a diver hard, keep a head-shaker in the middle of the bar, and go slack when a jumper telegraphs a leap.
Why does my line keep breaking?
The line only breaks because you are pulling on it. Every reel has a drag that pays out line on its own when the load gets high, but it cannot keep up with a big fish in a full run - if you are still holding REEL through that run, the tension climbs past what the line can take. Let go while the fish runs, and reel again when it stops. Heavier line raises the limit, at the cost of fewer bites.
How do you catch the rare fish?
Rare species live deep and only show up later in a trip. You need spool upgrades to reach them at all - the Trench starts at about 115 metres of line - and the right lure, because each lure raises a different family of fish. Nothing at all will rise to bait in the Trench except the Lamp. Swordfish and oarfish are the deepest of them, and they cannot be landed on starting tackle.
Can I play Bluewater on my phone?
Yes. The whole game is built around one thumb: one large REEL button you hold, and one action button that becomes SET, JIG or GAFF depending on what the fish is doing. You can also tap the water itself to work the lure. On a phone the view is upright and on a desktop it is wide, and the game fills whichever shape it is given.
