Any two pastries of the same kind that touch each other merge into the next one up an eleven-step chain, starting at a sprinkle and ending at the Grand Gateau. The new pastry is larger than either of the two that made it, so merging clears clutter and takes up space at the same time. When one merge causes another within about a second, the chain multiplier raises the score of every merge in that run.

The tray has a dashed fill line near the top. If any pastry comes to rest above that line and stays there for two continuous seconds, the service ends. A pastry falling through the line on its way down is fine — only ones that settle up there count, which is why leaving a flat landing area open matters more than clearing the tray quickly.

Hold banks the pastry you are about to drop so you can swap it for the next one, and it can be used once per drop. Shake nudges the whole tray to settle gaps, which sometimes closes a pairing you could not reach and sometimes collapses a stack you were building. Torch removes any single pastry from the tray and is the only way to get rid of burnt dough, which never merges. Shake and torch use limited charges earned with coins or a rewarded video.

The Closing Rush is a timed wave that starts appearing from the seventh shift and in Free Bake. It is telegraphed a few seconds ahead, then you must complete a set number of merges before the clock runs out while pastries drop about twice as fast and every merge scores double. Clearing it pays a bonus and settles the tray for you; missing it drops two burnt batches into your pile. Each wave demands more merges in less time than the one before.

Coins buy permanent bakery upgrades that apply to every run from then on: extra shake charges, extra torch charges, a pastry already waiting in the hold slot at the start of a run, and a wider chain window so linked merges keep counting toward one combo for longer. Shake and torch charges themselves reset each run, so coins go into lasting progress rather than into restocking.

Reopening the game brings you back to the next shift you have not cleared rather than to the start of the campaign.
