Play from the tableau before the stock
A card from the seven columns uncovers a face-down card underneath; a card from the stock uncovers nothing. When the same move is available from both, take it from the tableau, even if it means leaving a stock card waiting.
Free the long columns first
The rightmost column hides six face-down cards, the leftmost none. Moves that dig into the deep columns are worth more than moves that clear the shallow ones, because the buried cards are the ones most likely to be blocking the game.
Do not rush cards to the foundation
A 5 sent up early may be the only card that could receive a 4 you need to move later. Send aces and twos up immediately, but keep mid-cards in play until you are sure nothing in the tableau needs them.
Empty a column only if you have a king to put in it
An empty column is the strongest position on the board, but only if a king — ideally one with a long ordered sequence under it — can fill it. Emptying a column with no king available just removes a place to build.
Alternate colours when choosing between equal moves
If a black 8 can go on either of two red 9s, pick the one whose column has more face-down cards, and if that is equal, the one that keeps the other red 9 free for a black 8 still buried. Thinking one card ahead is enough to avoid most dead ends.

Which version of Solitaire is this?
This is Klondike Solitaire, the classic single-deck version that comes bundled with most computers and is what most people mean by "Solitaire". Cards stack down in alternating colours in the tableau and build up by suit from Ace to King on the foundations.
Can every game of Solitaire be won?
No. In Klondike Solitaire some deals cannot be solved no matter how well you play — that is a normal part of the game. Studies of the game put the share of winnable deals somewhere around 80 percent, with skilled play winning a good deal fewer than that in practice.
How do I move cards?
Drag a card or a sequence to where you want it, or double-click a card to send it straight to a foundation pile if it has a legal spot there. Click the stock pile in the top left to deal new cards when you run out of moves.
Do I have to click every card up at the end?
No. As soon as every card in the tableau is face up, a gold Finish button appears and plays out the rest of the game for you. At that point the deal is already won — with no face-down cards left, every column is a clean descending run and no move can go wrong — so the button is only removing busywork, never making a decision for you. Press it again to stop, or just keep playing by hand if you prefer.
Can I undo a move?
Yes. There is an undo button, so a misclick or a move you immediately regret is not the end of the game. You can also start a fresh deal at any time with the new game button.
