Neon Snake tips & strategy
Hug the walls, keep the centre empty
A snake that circles the outside keeps the middle of the arena free, so there is always room to turn toward a pellet. A snake that zig-zags through the centre leaves its body everywhere and runs out of space long before it runs out of skill.
Turn early, not late
Each turn moves the head one cell; a late turn near your own tail has no second chance. Decide the next turn as soon as the pellet appears, while the snake is still short of it, and leave the last two cells before a wall as a margin.
Follow your tail
The safest place to be is directly behind your own tail, because the tail moves away one cell for every cell you advance. When the arena is crowded, spiral inward behind the tail rather than cutting across open space that may close.
Do not chase a pellet into a dead end
A pellet in a corner boxed by your own body is a trap, not a prize. Take the long way round or wait a lap: the pellet stays where it is, and a snake that dies at 30 scores less than one that lives to 50.
Slow your inputs as the snake grows
Early on you can turn as fast as you tap. At length 40 a double-tap that reverses into your own body is the most common death. One deliberate input per cell is faster in practice than mashing.

How do I control the snake?
On a computer, use the arrow keys or WASD to change direction; the first press starts the run. On a phone or tablet, swipe in the direction you want to turn. The snake moves continuously and cannot stop or reverse into itself.
How does the game end?
The run ends when the snake hits the glowing frame, a neon pillar, or its own body. Since the snake grows every time it eats, the arena effectively shrinks as you score, and avoiding your own tail becomes the main challenge.
What are the gold pellets and the purple pillars?
A gold pellet appears now and then once you have six points. It is worth three, and the ring around it drains away — reach it before the ring is gone or it disappears. Neon pillars start appearing at twelve points, one more every six points up to ten; they are solid, so plan your turns around them.
Any tips for getting a higher score?
Hug the edges of the arena rather than cutting through the middle, and always leave yourself a way out before entering a tight space. Late in a run it is often better to ignore a pellet for a few seconds and unwind your shape than to chase it into a dead end.
